The nature closeness of Ikebana

The nature closeness of Ikebana

Ikebana is a millenial Japanese art form of flower arranging. It is not a simple decorative task or movement - it is rather a thoughtful practice that requires a careful consideration on the forms, textures, colours, still movement, and balacing occupied and empty space, in a disciplined and minimalistic approach to the compostition of the arrangements.

Dating back to the early days of Buddhism in Japan, and rooted on the practice of using flowers and flower arrangements as offerings in the temples, it has evolved along the centuries and taken a place in the Japanese homes, but has maintained its close relationship with the introspective, meditative and spiritual side of human nature.

In fact, Ikebana designers practice this art form in silence, and realise its importance as a way to sharpen the visual and textural senses and create a deeper and flowing connection with the different elements and their nature in order to refine and perfectly balance the flower arrangements, which often evoke themselves the close link that binds earth & nature, human kind, and the skies.
